Online Meetup for Community Archivists & Heritage Workers

Attention rural and northern members and lone arrangers! You are invited!

Description: A regular online meetup for Manitobans caring for the archives and history of their community. We will come together to share experiences, inspire and encourage each other. This meetup is a pilot facilitated by AMA Advisor, Sarah Story, with the support of rotating facilitators from participating archives and heritage centres around the province.

Who: Lone arrangers, rural and northern heritage workers, community members or volunteers working with collections, and archivists of small archives feeling isolated or in need of a support network.

WhyWe share a wealth of collective knowledge and experience. No matter our job titles or formal training, each of us brings firsthand insight and practical solutions to the challenges we all encounter. What one archivist has learned through experience may be exactly what another needs in a similar situation. And for those working alone, having a community to exchange ideas with and seek advice from can make all the difference. Let’s come together to share our stories, strategies, and tools—and to learn from and support one another as fellow archivists!

Where: Online, bi-monthly (January, March, May, July, September, November)

When: The first meetup is scheduled for Thursday, March 19th at 1pm CST.

Cost: Free and open to AMA members*

Access Note: You will need a working computer and decent connectivity to join us.

Registration: Email Sarah at advisor@mbarchives.ca by Tuesday, March 17th at 4pm to receive the link to the discussion prior to the meetup.

*To purchase or renew a membership, please contact Sarah in the office via email at: amaoffice@mbarchives.ca or register online: https://www.mbarchives.ca/Membership

If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah anytime!

Please note: Attending the first meeting in March is important if you want to have a say in collectively determining the annual calendar and the protocols of our discussion.
