Speakers/Facilitators:

Michelle Rydz & James Gorton - Hudson Bay Company Archives (HBCA)

Michelle has been an archivist at HBCA for the past 7 ½ years. She is a graduate of the U of M Archival Studies Program. Like Michelle, James has been an archivist at HBCA for the past 7 ½ years. He has a MA in history and a Masters of Information Studies from the University of Toronto. For the past year, James and Michelle have been co-leads of HBCA’s Aboriginal Peoples and Remote Communities Initiative.  The goal of this initiative is to coordinate HBCA’s acquisition, description, digitization and outreach activities relating to Canada’s remote communities and Aboriginal Peoples.

Conrad Stoesz - Mennonite Heritage Centre (MHC)

Conrad has been the archivist at the MHC Archives and the Centre for Mennonite Brethren Studies since 1999. Over the past 2 years, Conrad chaired the committee that oversaw the development of a photo database using AtoM to serve 7 Mennonite archival partners in Canada. Without the partnership and collaboration of partners, the $26,000 development cost and the projected $3,000 annual costs would have been too large to carry for any one partner.  The website is http://archives.mhsc.ca
