This is a FREE educational evening for AMA members and other interested individuals.
AMA members have indicated a strong interest in the work of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, and in the broader project of archival decolonization. The AMA Education Committee has collaborated with NCTR staff to organize an event that will let us learn about the NCTR, as well as discuss the ways in which the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission can be applied in our own archival institutions.
The evening will begin with a tour of the NCTR, during which participants will learn about the Centre’s mission and mandate. Following the tour, we will hear a talk unpacking the archival implications of the Calls to Action, as well as the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Joinet-Orentlicher principles. The talk will then be followed by a practical activity in which participants will have the opportunity to work through a number of the Calls to Action and apply them to their own workplaces.
Light refreshments will be provided.

If you are not affiliated with a particular institution, please note if you are an individual or student member of the AMA.
Registrations received after Mar. 1st may not be guaranteed space to participate. Additionally, if registration exceeds capacity of 30 participants, preference will be given to earliest registrants.
